{"id":348,"date":"2018-05-18T22:50:39","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T22:50:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.bitflyer.com\/en-us\/?p=348"},"modified":"2024-01-18T07:34:45","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T07:34:45","slug":"yuzo-kano-global-jurisdictions-new-york-consensus-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.bitflyer.com\/en-us\/yuzo-kano-global-jurisdictions-new-york-consensus-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"bitFlyer CEO Yuzo Kano spoke about \u201cGlobal Jurisdictions\u201d &#8211; New York at Consensus 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year at Consensus 2018, the heart of the biggest blockchain scene in New York City, bitFlyer\u2019s CEO, Yuzo Kano spoke on a panel regarding \u201cGlobal Jurisdictions,\u201d alongside legal consultant Gary DeWaal, Dr. James Smith founder of Elliptic and Albert Isola the Minister for Commerce from the government of Gibraltar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The panel was introduced by statements from CFTC Commissioner Brian Quintenz and the following panel discussed the current state of regulation in the industry and the challenges various governments and virtual currency exchanges face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two main topics emerged during the panel discussion:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SROs<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Self-regulatory organizations (SROs) were a large part of the discussion that took place during the panel. While many regulatory bodies may differ in their approach and initiatives, SROs are meant to guide regulation that may be implemented in the future. Yuzo explained that he helped form an SRO in Japan in 2014, in response to Mt. Gox incident and to help work with the industry on regulations.
