At bitFlyer USA, protecting our customers is our top priority. In light of recent cybersecurity incidents affecting the virtual currency industry, including a social engineering attack that targeted customer service representatives at a major exchange, we are issuing this urgent alert to all of our users.
What Happened?
Cybercriminals are using sophisticated social engineering techniques — including phishing emails, fake support messages, and fraudulent phone calls — to impersonate cryptocurrency platforms. Their goal is to gain access to customer accounts and steal funds or personal information.
How to Stay Safe:
- Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) and never share your authentication codes with anyone.
- We strongly recommend using an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator) rather than Mobile Text / SMS-based 2FA for added security.
- We will never ask for your password or 2FA code. If someone does, it’s a scam.
- Please also use strong & complex passwords and do not share passwords with anyone. Also try to avoid using the same passwords on multiple website or application accounts.
- We will never initiate contact through unsolicited phone calls.
- Our official emails come only from “[email protected]“.
- Always access your account directly via our website or app — never through a link in an unsolicited message.
If You Suspect Fraud:
If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from bitFlyer USA:
- Do not click any links.
- Do not respond to the message.
- Report it immediately via our secure support form at https://bitflyer.com/en-us/contact.
We urge all customers to remain cautious and verify all communications. Cybercriminals are persistent — but together, we can stay one step ahead.
