Today, we’re excited to announce that Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Ethereum Classic (ETC) are now available on bitFlyer USA. Users in all 47 states where we operate can now buy and sell LTC, BCH, and ETC from our simple Buy/Sell interface.
The addition of these new assets comes from the continuous user demand to list more assets on our platform. Soon after launching an intuitive Buy/Sell platform that allows any type of investor to easily buy and sell Bitcoin in July 2019, we introduced Ethereum. Now, bitFlyer users in the US and Europe can buy, sell, and store Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ethereum Classic on our platform.
Litecoin is an older virtual currency inspired by the source code of Bitcoin. It has many of the same features as Bitcoin, but with a faster block generation time and a larger amount of available supply. Litecoin is often referred to as the Silver to Bitcoin’s Gold.
Bitcoin Cash is a hard fork from the original Bitcoin blockchain and claims to be more closely aligned with anonymous author Satoshi Nakamoto’s original Bitcoin whitepaper. One of Bitcoin Cash’s main features is its increased block size to focus on being utilized as a payment method.
Ethereum Classic is a platform for creating smart contracts and decentralized applications (DApps), and is often referred as the original Ethereum chain. While it mirrors a lot of the developments of Ethereum, a key difference is its hard cap to its total supply.
These new coins will not be available for trading on our Lightning platform at this time. This announcement comes as a joint announcement from the bitFlyer Europe team, who today launched Buy/Sell of new altcoins, including Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Litecoin (LTC), Lisk (LSK) and Monacoin (MONA) to EU users.
